Youth Accounts


NCPAFCU wants to help members adopt sound financial principles at an early age and maintain those principles throughout their lives. That’s why the Credit Union offers two "Youth Account" programs to assist in the financial development of young members.

FAT CAT Account (For children up to age 121)
The FAT CAT® program teaches the Credit Union’s youngest members the importance of saving.
  • To open an account, the child and the responsible adult1 should visit a local branch
  • Must be joint with a parent, grandparent or other responsible adult1
  • $5.00 required opening deposit
  • Once the account balance reaches $25, it must be maintained
  • Interest compounded daily and paid monthly
  • FAT CAT Goody Bag which includes a Passbook for transaction records
  • Member card for ATM, Press For Info and Internet account access (via Press Pass)
  • Eligible to receive group term life insurance coverage in the amount of $1,000 at no cost
Group Term Life Insurance Coverage
The child is eligible to receive $1,000 of group term life insurance at no cost. The child's parent/guardian can increase this coverage to $10,000 for $18 per year3.
Zard Account (For ages 13-19)
The Zard® program introduces teenage members to checking accounts and lending services.
  • Variety of deposit account options
  • $25 minimum opening deposit / minimum balance2
  • Unique loan programs with competitive interest rates including car and student loans
  • Zard Card - a Visa Check or CashPoints card for ATM, Press For Info and Internet account access via Press Pass
  • Eligible to receive group term life insurance coverage in the amount of $1,000 at no cost
Group Term Life Insurance Coverage
The teen is eligible to receive $1,000 of group term life insurance at no cost. The teen (if age 15 or older) can increase this coverage to $10,000 for $18 per year. If the teen is not age 15 or older, a parent/guardian can increase coverage on their behalf3.
