Cardholder Travel Tips

Prepare yourself before you travel near or far. While NCPAFCU always takes extensive measures to minimize and prevent fraud, there are travel preparations you can make as well.

Contact the Credit Union Before Leaving for Any Extended Travel
Your NCPAFCU accounts are monitored on a daily basis for unusual activity through fraud monitoring tools. We can place a memo on your debit and/or credit cards to let us know when and where you’re traveling. Remember to provide current contact information, including your cell phone number.

Test Your Card(s) Before Leaving
Make sure your card is not damaged and your PIN is correct. Is the card going to expire while you are away?

Consider CashPoints® Global
Whatever your travel destination, NCPAFCU’s CashPoints Global (CPG) is the perfect choice for your travel needs, providing another alternative to your debit or credit cards. CPG provides a debit card tied to an NCPAFCU deposit account.

Bring Alternative Payment Methods
Sometimes problems occur with debit and credit cards, ATMs and card systems. It’s a good idea to bring more than one card, as well as cash.

Put Your Debit, Credit, or CPG Cards and Cash in Different Places
Purses, wallets or luggage can be lost or stolen. Store items in different places so you’ll have access to funds in case something happens.

If Traveling Internationally, Contact Your Credit Union
NCPAFCU can provide you with current information about potential fraud blocks in other countries as well as all available information for that region and can exclude your card from fraud strategies that may impact your trip.
