What makes us NCPAFCU

The unique background of NCPAFCU equips us to serve our members.

Our mission

Our mission is to provide reliable financial solutions to members of the North Carolina Press Association and their families, empowering them to grow and thrive with trust, integrity, and innovation.

Our identity

NCPAFCU is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative for employees of NC newspapers that belong to the North Carolina Press Association and their immediate family members.

Our history

NCPAFCU was established by North Carolina Press Association (NCPA) and State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) in 1984 as a new credit union for employees of newspapers that are members of the NCPA.

Our members continue to enjoy the benefits of our decades-long relationship with SECU, including service at 275 branch offices in all 100 counties in North Carolina. SECU provides ongoing management and serves at the direction of the NCPAFCU Board of Directors.

Today, NCPAFCU has over 1,300 members and more than $10 million in assets. Employees of NCPA member newspapers and news organizations, retirees, and their families are eligible to join.
