Our FAT CAT® and Zard® accounts empower kids and teens with products and services designed to help them develop life-long money management skills. Learn to save, spend, and earn with accounts tailored to young members. Account holders are also eligible to receive $1,000 of Group Term Life Insurance at no cost.1

FAT CAT (ages 0-12)

Designed for children up to 12 years of age, the FAT CAT Share Account2 allows young members to save and watch their money grow. The account also comes with other fun perks, including a dedicated website and newsletter.

Designed for youth ages 13-19, Zard Share (savings) and Checking Accounts4 can be opened individually or joint with a parent, grandparent, or other responsible individual, as long as the teen is eligible for membership.

Group Term Life Insurance for kids & teens

FAT CAT and Zard account holders receive $1,000 of Group Term Life Insurance at no cost.1 Coverage can be increased to $10,000 for $18 per year by a parent or legal guardian on the child’s behalf. This additional coverage must be purchased within 30 days of account opening.

  2. FAT CAT Share (savings) Accounts can be opened at a branch for young members who are eligible for membership and must be joint with a parent, grandparent, or other responsible adult who is an existing member with a regular Share Account.
  3. Withdrawals are allowed when the balance exceeds $25.
  4. Zard Accounts can be opened at a branch for teen members who are eligible for membership. The Zard Checking Account must be joint with either a parent, grandparent, or other responsible adult if teen is under age 18.
  5. A $1 fee is assessed if the account balance is below $25 on the statement cut-off date.
  6. No minimum balance is required to open a Zard Checking Account or earn the stated dividend rate. Once the account is open, sufficient funds must be maintained to cover the $1 monthly maintenance fee and other authorized fees and charges (e.g., debits, checks ordered, etc.).
