North Carolina Press Association Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit cooperative, served through State Employees' Credit Union (SECU).
Membership is limited to persons who meet the following eligibility criteria:
Employees of North Carolina newspapers that belong to the N.C. Press Association (NCPA) (except if those newspapers have their own credit union), including the following:
Full-time employees
Part-time employees
Temporary/contract employees of eligible newspapers as long as they are paid by/through the newspaper and not by a third party
Individuals retired from eligible newspapers as pensioners and/or annuitants from the above employment or service, including former employees who are “vested” and have not withdrawn or terminated future eligibility to be a pensioner and/or annuitant
Immediate family of an existing member, including spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, grandchild, stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, and adoptive relationships
Un-remarried spouses of deceased members

If you meet one of these eligibility requirements, you can become a member by opening a share account with a minimum deposit of $25. (A FAT CAT® Share Account can be opened for eligible persons age 12 and under with a minimum deposit of $5.) What is needed to open an account:
Taxpayer Identification Number (SSN, ITIN, or EIN)
Unexpired government-issued photo ID - driver's license, state photo ID, U.S. passport, military card, or permanent resident card (green card).1
NCPAFCU members are served through State Employees' Credit Union (SECU). Members have access to SECU’s 275 branches, 1,100 ATMs, and can reach Member Services Support 24/7.
If you do not have an unexpired government-issued photo ID, two alternative forms of ID (such as Social Security card and birth certificate) are required. Proof of identity (unexpired government-issued photo ID, or two alternative forms of ID, such as Social Security card and birth certificate) for minors may be required.
